Don't You Just Love Harelys?

I do. Yes, I like all sorts of bikes, but I'll always own at least one Harley. Well, I only own one now, but a person needs several. Motorcycles if not just Harleys. I own a 1998 XLH 1200 Sportster. I bought it used with about 4500 miles on it, and six months later it had over 10,000 on it. Yes, I try to ride whenever I can, and that usually means about every day, even if only for a few miles.

My philosophy of riding is that the more you ride, the safer you ride, because you don't have a chance for your skills to get rusty. So I try to ride, even in inclimate weather. In fact, I especially try to ride in inclimate weather. It's very good practice. Yes, it's often uncomfortable, stressful with other impatient drivers on the road, and not nearly as enjoyable as riding on a summer's day, but I regard it as part of karma. The term Ride To Live has another meaning too. If you don't ride often, your skills may become rusty and you may not. Live that is. So especially when you live in a metropolitan area, as I do near Atlanta, other drivers, of the four wheeled variety, have plenty of opportunties to test your acumen. It's amazing what they come up with sometimes. What ingenius impromptu quizzes they give you at freeway speeds (and in East Cobb, that's not always on a freeway, either!).

Future Plans for This Page

In the future, I'd like to segregate this page into some other areas of interest. Especially some thoughts on modern motorcycling versus some how riding was 25 years ago. Bikes have come a long way, and do has competition of various kinds. For example, I love sportbikes, also. I'd love to get a Yamaha FZ1!

Here are some sounds of Harleys and biker stuff you might enjoy. Chances are you'll have to convert the sounds to something you can use. I'd recommend Sox.

One area of interest, that has nothing to do with Harleys, per se, is observed trials. I love this sport, and I want to get a trials bike. There don't seem to be a lot of places around where I live to ride these bikes, so I was going carve up the back yard into some different obstacles. I can hear my wife now . . . . ``Oh Dear? . . . ''

I'd also like to post some plans for trips, pins, rallys, and some riding buddies. Share ideas about travelling gear, bike modifications, and Sportsters and Big Twins/Twin Cams.

Well, we'll see how that all turns out in the future. Tonight, I just want to get this page created.
